Black Jack Rules - Learn and Enjoy Playing

Black Jack is one of the most playable card table games in the world, as its rules are simple and it is easy to play. All is required to have the ability of holding cards and counting to 21.

The main aim of the game is to get the total amount of cards bigger than the dealer, without exceeding 21 points.

Black Jack rules may vary, depending on the casino and game variations, but generally they are the same:

  • At the beginning of the game each player places the wager.
  • The croupier than deals the cards in the clockwise turn, beginning from the first player from the left side. Two player's cards are face up, and one of the dealer's hands is face down.
  • After the cards are dealt, the gamblers count their cards according the card values and make their decisions. They can be the following:

    Hit - to take one more card.

    Stand - stay with the current score.

    Double Down - to double the initial wager, when you have 2 first cards.

    Splitting - to divide the pair of two initial cards and play them as two separate hands.

    Insurance - is offered the players if the banker has an Ace.

    Surrender - the option, that offers you to surrender the cards hand and give the half of your wager to the dealer.

  • The dealer is the last to make a decision. After this the winners and the losers are announced and bets distributed.

Dealer's Black Jack Rules of Playing

The dealer's playing rules and decisions are more restricted.

  • If the dealer has 17 points, he/she must stand (refuse from taking any additional cards) (there are some variations of this rule).
  • If the dealer has 16 points, he/she should hit (take one more card).

Black Jack Shuffling Ritual

  1. The game is played with 1-8 decks of cards. After the shuffling the deck one gambler at the table is asked to cut it. A big plastic card is inserted in the deck and then the croupier relocates the upper part of the deck to the top of it.
  2. After this procedure, one or several cards are removed from the deck at all. These cards are put to the discard box and they are called "the burn cards".
  3. The dealer places all the other cards to the "shoe" - special wooden box. When the game reaches to the plastic card inside the deck, the cards are reshuffled again.

The game is played at the semi-circle table. Each player has its own area at it. Beginning the play, the gambler should buy chips from the banker. The wagers are put in front of each player in the special betting circles.
